H,i my name is John, and my company is called Orkney Trike Tours. Using, would you believe it, German built "BOOM" trike.
Taking a tour with us you the same sites other tourist guides show you, but we also give you the fun of the Journey as well. Why not arrive in style, when you tour Orkney. It's the nearest thing to riding your own motorbike but with the safety of being driven by an advanced driver, who has over 10 years experience of driving emergency vehicles for the ambulance service. Whether you are reliving your past, or trying motorcycling for the first time you are never to old to ride with the freedom our trike lets you feel.
I arrived to Orkney in 2102 as a Nurse on Shapinsay. having worked in the National Health Services, as a Nurse since 1982.
Having taken early retirement, due to ill health in 2017, I becoming a tourist Guide, and last year I started offering tours on the "Boom" Trike. In 2019, I consolidated my Knowledge and guiding skills by qualifying as an Orkney Green Badge Tourist Guide.
I offer set themed tours, of various lengths, based on Neolithic history, the vikings or Orkney at war. Other tours offered, concentrate more on the produce of Orkney visiting Whisky Distilleries or Breweries. As well as bespoke tours tailored to your interests such as wildlife.
Of course some just want to ride the trike and we are just as happy to take you around Orkney and let you enjoy the whole Orkney atmosphere.
All our trike tours have protective leg wear, helmets and hand warmers to keep you snug and dry.
There is two way intercom contact between me and the passengers.
I am fully registered by the Orkney Island Council, as is my Trike. With the addition of my advanced driving qualifications and experience I can provide you with a safe guided tour and experience around the beautiful islands of Orkney.
We can pick you up from your cruise ship, ferry port, airport or your accommodation. Do you have an idea not mentioned here, just ask us, you may be surprised by what we can do. I also can do step on tours using your own vehicles as well as walking tours around Kirkwall and Stromness.
Why not give us a call, or drop us a line to see if we can offer you a unique way of experiencing Orkney, but what ever and whoever you pick to guide you around Orkney all I can say is enjoy these beautiful islands whilst you are here.
