About Me

I am a writer nd tour guide living in Shetland. I have recently finished my first book - The Ponies at the Edge of the World - which was based on my PhD work. My PhD involved researching connections between Shetland native breeds and contemporary Shetland identities. I am fascinated by the ways history, particularly crofting history, impacts on everyday lives in Shetland. This has led to me doing extensive research with crofters and pony breeders. I have a good knowledge of history, architecture, identity, festivals, folklore and contemporary social life. I love the outdoors and am happy to do walking tours of any distance to help you discover some of Shetlands hidden beauty spots. I am happy to work with your interests and help plan itinerary or join you as a step on guide for a tour you have planned.
