About Me

Hello, Welcome to Scotland! I look forward to helping you make the most of your visit, whatever your interests, and wherever you would like to go.

My name is Dorothy Rodger and I grew up, was educated, and have worked in Scotland, most of my life. I live in beautiful Highland Perthshire right in the heart of Scotland, so I am ideally placed for Guiding Scotland.

I am a geographer and am fascinated by people and place. The theme of opening people’s eyes to the world around them, and enabling them to make the most of those opportunities, runs throughout my career.  I look forward to using this expertise to help you explore Scotland together.

You may want to gain a general overview of the country visiting the cities of the Central Belt and exploring the Highlands and Islands. You may prefer to explore in more depth with a walking or site tour of a particular area.  You may have a particular interest you want to indulge. Whatever your thoughts I look forward to discussing them with you.

I would hope that my Geography MA (Hons 2:1) from Glasgow University, my STGA (Scotland-wide) Blue Badge qualification, and over 25 years of travelling extensively throughout Scotland working with communities and companies for major charities, would give me the skills and expertise to help you fulfil your dreams!

When I’m not guiding I enjoy exploring even more of Scotland, local walks, cycling, swimming and gardening.  My favourite place in the world remains the West Coast of Scotland on a sunny day!

TESTIMONIALS

Dorothy is a delight. Wise, fun and caring. - Extended tour 2019

Thank you for making this tour an amazing experience. Your in depth knowledge of geology, the Jacobites, and the Highland clans supplemented with handouts and music made Scottish history come alive. - Laura and Sue - Extended tour 2022

Dorothy is very knowledgeable she went from explaining local facts and history about Dundee all the way through Edinburgh. As we drove by the small villages and countryside she explained everything we could see along the way. She was also detailed about what there is to do and see in Edinburgh and gave instructions about drop off and pick up location. - Cruise ship passenger 2021

Dorothy was amazing! She made the program work for all. Her enthusiasm was contagious. Wish there was an option to select her as group leader for future programs. -Extended tour 2019

Dorothy, did a fantastic job keeping us informed at all times. She was always available and made sure everyone in the group was engaged. She went out of her way for any needs. - Extended tour 2019

Many many thanks for all the information you shared! You are amazing. The extensive information is the tip of the iceberg of effort you so obviously put into this program. Thanks for so much beyond! - Nancy and Dave - Extended Tour 2022
