About Me

Since graduating from Stirling University with a History BA, I undertook a Post Graduate Certificate of Education at Moray House, Edinburgh qualifying to teach in the primary school sector. Beginning teaching in 1992, I taught full time until 2003 when I decided to use my passion of history within tourism.

My tourism experience began in 2003 when I started guiding in and around Stirling. I enjoyed working with visitors so much that I decided to take the Edinburgh University two year STGA Blue Badge course which is the only accredited professional guiding body in Scotland. This qualification gave me the experience to lead tours, work with people from numerous countries as well as offering a personal service which is tailor-made to individual or group requirements.

My experience includes day tours and both short and extended tours.I regularly undertake walking tours of Dundee, St Andrews, Edinburgh Castle and Royal Mile, and work with international cruise groups, conference tours, as well as private shopping for that ‘special’ souvenir. Showcasing Scotland is especially important to me as well as offering visitors pleasant memories of their visit during Conferences.

Always keen to further my knowledge, I regularly partake in Continuous Professional Development courses which in 2011 was an accreditation for working with cruise groups and in 2012, for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014. 2015 is looking at the Outlander phenomenon!

In 2013, I was honoured to be approached to become a member of the Board for the Scottish Tourist Guides Association within Scotland. This Board ensures the ongoing values and professionalism of all Guides within Scotland and it is an immense privilege to be able to contribute and maintain the high standards for which we have become known. I am also involved in ensuring the professional standards of the STGA are met by the CPD Scheme (Continual Professional Development) undertaken by many guides who wish to maintain their professionalism.
