About Me

I have lived all my life in Edinburgh, and was educated at the Royal High School, (pictured above) like Sir Walter Scott and Deacon Brodie and then St Andrews University, where I achieved a First class honours degree in Mathematics and Political Economy, prior to my career with Scottish Widows, latterly in Fixed Interest Investments. As Investments is an industry primarily for younger people, I took early retirement, worked for a while on the mis-selling of personal pensions, and then graduated as a STGA Blue Badge guide in 2002. As a parallel project I brushed up my limited German and am now accredited in that language.
My interests are listed alongside, but there was no place for "oddities" which always appeal to me. For German guests, I should say I am a BVB fan, but accept groups from FC Bayern and even S04! As you can see from this page, I am Edinburgh based and do not generally do tours of more than one day - therefore they usually start and end here, but I drive and do take groups from hotels not too far away.
