Mike is a Scottish Guide who happens also to be a talented artist and Bagpipe Player. Based in Edinburgh, he is experienced in guiding a range of ages, nationalities and backgrounds.
 
Mike regularly wears the kilt which is in his family tartan and guides visitors with a unique passion and understanding for his native land. He likes to describe himself as "Guiding with an Artist's Eye and Musician's Ear."

Friendly, approachable and understanding, he comes from a background of teaching art and art history to High School students both at home and in the U.S.
A distinguished landscape painter, Mike has exhibited widely in exhibitions internationally so he is very at home guiding in Museums and Galleries.

A very entertaining guide, Mike will interpret and bring alive characters and events through his talents as a story teller.

    Mike qualified as a Scottish Blue Badge Tourist Guide in 2014
    
    As a painter he trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and received a range of awards while a student. He has work in public and private collections both at home and overseas and continues to enjoy painting and printmaking.
    
    Further qualifications include a teaching certificate leading to employment as an art teacher working with High School students as well as adults.
    
    Mike is also a professional bagpiper and holds a certificate in piping and drumming. in this area he has experience teaching Highland Bagpipe to students from 9 years of age and upwards.
    
    Mike also holds qualifications in computing and business management.
