About Me

Hello,

My name is Rita Stephen

I am an avid student of Scottish history and passionate about the environment. In my spare time, I take long walks along some of the 165 miles of Aberdeenshire coastline, with its abundance of golden beaches, rocky cliffs and magnificent sand dunes. Parts of the Aberdeenshire coastline have been described by National Geographic as “one of the world’s outstanding coastlines”.

Originally from Lanark, I moved to Aberdeen in 1975 to study Hotel Management. I have experience of the tourism industry across the North East of Scotland, stretching from Speyside, home to over 50 distilleries all the way down to Fife, including St Andrews, the home of golf.

As a former Head of Economic Development for the City of Aberdeen, I have a very detailed knowledge of the City of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. The City of Aberdeen, Scotland’s third largest city has been a trading port since the 13th century. The University of Aberdeen was established in 1495. I have a particular interest in and a detailed knowledge of the life and work of Thomas Blake Glover, a founding father of modern Japan, who was born in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire.

Let me guide you to historic castles, picturesque fishing villages, secret coves and spectacular nature reserves; hidden places with little or no crowds, only miles and miles of sea and coastline in all its splendour for you to enjoy.
I can also design a tour tailored specifically to your interests.
