Ann Edgar

Languages:

Born and brought up in a mining village in West Lothian I qualified as a primary school teacher in 1970. I gained promotion a number of times and held the post of Head teacher for a total of 23 years.
On retiring I felt that the skills I had honed as a teacher/administrator would transfer well to tour guiding and I became a STGA qualified guide in 2006. I believe education is a lifelong process and have kept my CPD accreditation updated. I am a member of the NTS and a FSA SCOT . I attend a wide range of lectures, trips and exhibitions organised by various groups.
Over the years my interest in history, social studies and the outdoor environment has grown.
I have successfully guided on a one to one basis, being a companion as well as a guide, family groups, pre and post themed cruise ship tours, students on pre-university visits, wedding parties and school classes who want a tour to bring a topic to life.
I enjoy working with people of all ages from school children to the more mature traveller.
One of my interests is working with small groups who have special needs.
I have experience in working with interpreters and translators especially with groups from the Far East.
I have over a number of years planned and carried out tours for students learning English as a second language, giving them a real feeling for Scotland.
For a number of years I have co-ordinated guides for a major inbound tour operator.
