Hello and welcome! Let me tell you a bit about myself:
I was born and raised in Edinburgh and after spending time working elsewhere in the UK and abroad (West Africa, Egypt, Brazil, Mongolia), I decided to make my home in Scotland again. I have now lived in Edinburgh for 30 years. My career has been varied, always working with people and using my communication skills. I enjoy exploring Scotland, learning about its people, history and culture, and sharing all of that with others.
I enjoy hillwalking and have climbed all the Munros (Scottish hills over 916m). I enjoy theatre, art and listening to all kinds of music including Scottish traditional music, and I am learning to play the fiddle (violin for traditional tunes). I am interested in Scottish history and archaeology, textiles, sewing and knitting..
I am now bringing all these interests and skills together as an enthusiastic member of the tourist guide community: I completed the training to become a Blue Badge guide, qualifying in 2018. Since then I have participated enthusiastically in continuing professional development through visits, talks and reading, and I have kept my First Aid skills up-to-date.
I am a member of the National Trust for Scotland, Historic Environment Scotland. University of the Third Age and the Scots Music Group. That all helps me keep up to date, with Scottish life, history and culture so as to bring you the best possible experience during your stay.
