Hi, my name is Ben, and welcome to my profile!
I have been guiding clients in Scotland since 2017. Born in the heart of Glasgow, I still live in city I grew up in; a wonderful, vibrant city that is so close to my heart. I’m only an hour drive north to Loch Lomond and highlands, and only an hour and a half from Edinburgh, making me perfectly positioned to guide the whole of Scotland as well as Glasgow itself, an often-overlooked part of Scotland.
Thanks to a father passionate about Scotland and its history, I have travelled extensively in Scotland from a young age, with my father telling me all its stories. Family holidays for me were battlefields and castles, not sunny beaches in Spain! As a result, I have inherited my father’s passion for Scotland’s culture, spectacular scenery and rich history. Becoming a Tourist Guide just made sense. I love Scotland, and to have a job showing people from around the world why I love it as much as I do, really is a dream come true. I hope that after one of my tours, guests will love Scotland as much as I do too.
Before becoming a tourist guide, I studied, and worked professionally for many years as an actor. This performance background lends itself well to guiding. As well as my passion and knowledge, I use my performance skills to deliver this information in a fun and engaging way.
I left the acting world behind when I got a job with Scottish Tour Company Rabbie’s, and it was here I feel I found my calling and decided to apply for the STGA Blue Badge Course. I graduated from the course in 2020 and am now a fully qualified and accredited Blue Badge Tourist Guide. As a blue badge guide, I can offer walking tours, coach tours and driver guided tours, all over Scotland from half-day to full day or even extended tours. More information can be found on my webiste, www.weeglesgatours.com
So, allow me to take you through this wonderful country, tell you its stories, and show you its secrets and see the things you will otherwise miss touring on your own. I’m sure by the end you’ll take home the fondest memories and be desperate to come and see us again!
