About Me

Going to school in Linlithgow, birth place of Mary Queen of Scots, lead to an inevitable interest in her amazing story and in Scottish history in general. Having completed the blue badge course, I am now equally fascinated by and have acquired knowledge of other aspects of Scotland, such as: geology, architecture, wildlife and art. It's all fascinating.

I have spent most of my working life teaching French, German and Spanish, mainly to adults. I love speaking foreign languages and I am passionate about my country. I find it exciting to share my knowledge of Scotland, the country, its people, customs and culture which I have acquired through growing up here and through formal study. To do this in one of my foreign languages enhances the experience for me, although I also enjoy speaking in English to English speaking guests from all over the world.

I have been learning to play Celtic tunes on the fiddle for three years (if you are unlucky, you might hear me play!) and, more recently, learning Scottish Gaelic. Come and let me tell you all about it.

I' am not a driver guide but have worked with the companies Rabbies and Timberbush who provide mini coaches and drivers.

Ein Kunde hat geschrieben: Es war ein tolles Erlebnis mit Dir. Eine hervorragende Führung mit vielen Informationen. Es waren alle sehr begeistert. Vielen Dank für alles und liebe Grüße ?

A tour operator sent me this feedback from a German speaking group I guided:

was leading the Schoenherr group who had booked the 4hs city tour on 23rd October and the day trip to Loch Lomond a day later, guided by Deborah McVittie.

When meeting again yesterday back home, the whole group agreed that Deborah was the best guide ever, as it hasn't been our first trip. None of the many questions remained unanswered - in a quiet and hearty way.

Please give our best regards to her. We enjoyed having been her group for two days.

Kind regards

Günther
