About Me

I taught English and History at my local Secondary School - Turriff Academy for many years, until I saw an advertisement in "The Scotsman" newspaper looking for Blue Badge Guides. "Be an Ambassador for your country", it stated. By this time it was the year 2000 and I was really looking for a career move. This proved to be it. I had always been very proud of my native land and my supreme skill was talking! Therefore, why not merge the two together. I really enjoyed being back studying for the two years of my training and now love to show people round "Amazing Alba". I am specifically interested in North East Scotland - a place which is often neglected by tour groups, although I am happy to cover Scotland. I love to travel and also to meet people. Everyone is interesting and I always hope to give our guests an experience of a lifetime.
I am equally at ease with a large group or a tour on a one to one basis. During the last ten years, I myself have travelled to Fiji, Brazil, Croatia, New Zealand , Sri Lanka and Turkey with my husband while he was working as a Civil Engineer. During 2010 - 2011 we travelled by Land Rover 23,000 miles from Scotland to the southern most tip of Africa. All the time, we banged the drum for our native land. The Saltire on the side of the vehicle was a passport to almost anywhere, even in Kenya where the Border guard remembered having Scottish Country Dancing Lessons at school!
