About Me

Hi I'm Jean Ross a fully qualified Green Badge Guide in Orkney where I was born and brought up on a beef farm. I attended 2 primary schools and Kirkwall Grammar secondary school.

Having brought up my 2 boys and worked in a variety of jobs I was always drawn to telling people about Orkney. I worked at Maeshowe our 5,000 year old Neolithic chambered tomb during which time I did my Guiding Course. In 2011 I was able to buy my own vehicle to do my private tours.

We have a large number of cruise ships coming into Orkney now when the local council provide a Meet and Greet Service which I ran for 3 summers. It was great meeting and welcoming so many folk into the islands.

Having grown up in Orkney I can tell you what life was really like for a youngster on a farm helping with the animals and going to school in a small country school by bus. I watched planes flying in and out of Grimsetter airport now known as Kirkwall airport. I learned to swim in Scapa Flow and played in 8 foot snowdrifts during the winter.

Let me show you around and tell you about my home... Orkney.
