About Me

It would be my pleasure and delight to show you around Scotland, my country. Scotland has an unrivalled history, heritage and culture which I would love to share with you.

I have post graduate qualifications in Scottish History and am a skilled trainer and facilitator whose communication skills have been said to be outstanding.

Having lived in Australia for many years and travelled extensively, I feel that I am in a unique position to compare and contrast Scotland with other counties and am very knowledgeable about Scottish emigration to the new world. I am also interested in the cycle of the Celtic Calendar and Scotland's pre-history.

Another passion is food, wine, whisky and cooking. I am currently cooking "sous vide and am very interested in the concept of paddock to plate or field to fork. While I was in Australia, I owned and ran a small farm where I kept rare breed cattle. (Belted Galloways) I also grew olives and vines and had a herb and vegetable garden as I believe that the fresher food is, the more nutritious it is.

I am also a golfer and consider Scotland to have the most interesting golf courses in the world. Literature, and bridge are other interests along with antiques, the Glasgow Style and the arts in general.

Galloway, in south west Scotland is one of my favourite areas in the country and I know this area particularly well. The Artists' Town of Kircudbright is well worth visiting with its brand new multi million pound art gallery while the Galloway Forest Park is one of the best dark sky parks in Europe because of the small population and lack of light pollution - magnificent night skies. Galloway has incredible wild life including red squirrels and some of the best bird watching sites in Scotland on the Solway Firth. Because of the gentle climate there are wonderful gardens and plant nurseries. Let me show you Gorgeous Galloway
