I am passionate about Scotland: her landscape, her history, her folklore, her literature and art, her people and the modern day country.
My enthusiasm is infectious, and with a wide-ranging knowledge, I have an eye for the particularly entertaining, interesting, the quirky and fun aspects of this most spectacular of countries. My warm and welcoming manner will make you feel right at home on tour in Scotland.
Having worked for a number of years as a ghost tour guide in Edinburgh’s Old Town before qualifying as a Blue Badge Scottish Tourist Guide in 2006, I am an expert storyteller. Scotland will come alive through her tales and folklore, leaving you with the feeling that you have experienced the towns and cities, mountains, glens and islands through the eyes of her ancient inhabitants – superstitions, traditional customs and all.
I also trained and worked as a guide for the new Scottish Parliament Building and have a great interest and understanding of modern Scotland and her people.
I particularly enjoy guiding themed tours, and tours adapted to a specific group.
Themes that I have a particular interest in, and that I have had the pleasure to guide over the years include:
Women’s History Tours
LGBTQ+ tours
Literary tours
Breweries and pubs
Religion in Scotland
Clan tours
Highland Games
