I am passionate about Scotland: her landscape, her history, her folklore, her art and literature, her people and the modern day country. My enthusiasm is infectious, and with a wide-ranging knowledge, I have an eye for the particularly entertaining, interesting, the quirky and fun aspects of this most spectacular of countries. My warm and welcoming manner will make you feel right at home on tour in Scotland.
Having worked for a number of years as a ghost tour guide in Edinburgh’s Old Town before qualifying as a Blue Badge Scottish Tourist Guide, I am an expert storyteller. Scotland will come alive through her tales and folklore, leaving you with the feeling that you have experienced the towns and cities, mountains, glens and islands through the eyes of her ancient inhabitants – superstitions, traditional customs and all.
I also trained and worked as a guide for the new Scottish Parliament Building and have a great interest and understanding of modern Scotland and her people.
I have been lucky enough to guide people from around the world. Although I only speak English, I am often praised for my clarity and groups, including student groups, who have English as a second language find me easy to understand. I also have plenty of experience guiding with a translator.
I will adjust the tour to the specific group and their particular interests. I am happy to guide themed tours - some examples that I have guided in recent years are: Highland Dancing and Highland Games; Scottish Country Dancing; Clan Tours; Harry Potter; Breweries and pubs; and Religion in Scotland.

I have experience in guiding on foot, on a coach, by minibus, in a chauffeur driven car, on an Old London Route Master Bus, by bicycle, train and boat!
I can guide groups of all sizes from individuals to a full coach.
I enjoy walking and coach tours of my beautiful home city of Edinburgh, as well as other towns and cities across Scotland including Glasgow, Stirling, St Andrews, Inverness and Aberdeen. This includes tours of the museums, galleries, Castles and other attractions.
I love heading further afield into the Highlands, and south to the Scottish Borders. Both coach tours and walks through the spectacular landscape.
My greatest passion is for Scotland’s magnificent islands and stunning coastline. In particular the Orkney Islands off the north coast, with their unique beauty and their remarkably well preserved 5000 year old homes, burial chambers and standing stones.
