About Me

I live in Perth in central Scotland, within an hour's drive to Edinburgh or Glasgow. I am experienced, knowledgeable and flexible and love taking visitors around my country. I grew up in Dundee on the east coast of Scotland and moved to Glasgow in 1970 to study music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. After graduating, I joined the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and subsequently the Scottish Chamber Orchestra as an orchestral violinist, playing throughout the UK and around the world. Meanwhile, my interest in Scotland's history, culture and amazing landscapes grew as I pursued my hobbies of hill-walking, sailing and cycling around the country. After completing the Munros (mountains over 3,000ft) in 1994, I knew I wanted to share this passion, and to this end I qualified as a hillwalking guide in 1996 and a Blue Badge Guide in 2000. Since then I have had the privilege of guiding people from all over the world, not only to our main tourist sites in the cities, but throughout the Highlands and Islands. Coach touring is a great introduction to Scotland, but there is nothing more exhilarating than exploring our country on foot. Let me create an itinerary for you or lead you on your adventure. There is so much to see, I can help you discover some of our hidden gems.
