Originally from Ayrshire in the south west of Scotland, I have lived in Orkney with my family since 2003. During my time here, I have a developed a keen interest in all aspects of Orkney’s rich heritage, and in helping others to explore and enjoy it. As a guide, I walk alongside you on your journey, sharing my in-depth knowledge so you can discover more about those aspects of Orkney which most excite your interest. I am a keen reader of historic fiction and enjoy a good story, especially one about Viking intrigue! In my other job as a freelance graphic designer I have created displays for museums and visitor centres across Orkney, giving me insights into many different aspects of the heritage. I am interested in the arts, crafts, design and photography, and fascinated by what inspires so many creative people to live and work here. In my spare time I practise and teach Tai Chi, and enjoy walking, cycling and cooking. Most of all I like to meet and talk to interesting people! I am conscious that you are here to explore and have fun. My tours are lively, relaxed and informal, and I am happy to plan an itinerary to suit your particular interests.
