I have toured successfully all around Scotland with large groups, individual families and VIPs. I have especially enjoyed extended tours as they give me a chance to get to know my visitors more closely. I am therefore very comfortable with all kinds of guests, from high net worth inviduals and large groups to corporate leaders and diplomatic staff.
My 'beat' is Scotland and although I live close to Glasgow I have guided all over the country - from the beautiful ruined abbeys of the South West, to the gorgeous Lochs, Bens and castles of the Highlands .
While Edinburgh is a guide's gift, I love Glasgow as well, as it is an intimate, working city - full of surprises, world renowned galleries and artists , glorious architecture, fabulous restaurants and lovely people. Scotland's major advantage is that everywhere you choose to go, there is always a fabulous tale to tell, an astonishing character to celebrate, and stunning scenery to enjoy. My approach is simply to ensure my guests have fun.
In a former life, my career after Oxford University ( where I studied Politics and Law ) was spent in TV, first as a journalist with the network news then as the programme boss with a broadcaster for the South of England.. I've sat on several influential Boards, worked alongside celebrities, presenters and politicians, made some award winning shows and covered some astonishing news stories.
My passion is the history and landscape of Scotland, golf and the odd dram , having moved here 10 years ago. Everywhere you go in Scotland there are hidden treasures, secret views and magnificent wildlife, which are a pleasure to show visitors. As a history buff, Scotland's past is an extraordinarily complex story entwined with the rest of the British Isles, full of deadly rivalries, heroes & villains, castles galore and world beating science & innovation.
I look forward to sharing all this and more with you.
