It was always a dream of mine to eventually become a tourist guide. Island life has always given opportunity to meet new people and show off “da boannie” landscape, local sights, local museums and a great experience of all weathers in one day.
After a 30-year career in Finance, local government housing sector and private sector housing, I felt the time was right to re-train. In 2023, I became a full-time qualified Shetland Green Badge Tourist Guide.
I have a musical background in Shetland Traditional Fiddle with position of “Leader” to the Shetland Fiddlers’ Society since 1998. I find that the shetland music, culture and guiding all interlinks to give a fuller great experience of “Life in Shetland”. I have been very lucky to have travelled the world to represent Shetland music at such a young age, I love to continue to represent Shetland now in “wir boannie isles”.
As a guide, I love to keep the shetland history and characters alive in the forefront to visitors. As a hop-on guide, I can join your private bus or car transport and I also cover Lerwick Walks. It makes me so proud to show off our beautiful wild natural home, heritage, culture, archeology, Up Helly Aa fire festivals, "Shetland" Crime Drama TV series locations and do hope that it is an unforgettable experience for you.
