About Me

I trained as a biologist and straight from university entered the pharmaceutical industry, capping my career at GlaxoSmithKline. I took early retirement and crowned a lifetime's love of Scotland by qualifying as one one of her Blue Badge guides.

My passion for my country is inexhaustible. For a small landmass - Scotland is about the size of the State of Maine - she boasts a terrain of exceptional variety. From her major towns and city centres you are within easy reach of romantic lochs and mountain glens, unspoiled islands and medieval castles.

Movies are regularly shot here, mostly in quite accessible locations. Scotland is also a paradise for leisure. It is the home of golf and our courses are among the best-known on the planet. Glasgow and Edinburgh are hubs for the most dizzying shopping experience outside London, while the Scottish arts and crafts and country wear outlets are dangerously moreish.

The capital city Edinburgh - called 'the Athens of the North' - is one of the most dramatically beautiful anywhere. I live both here in Edinburgh and in the west of Scotland - not a mile from Loch Lomond in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. I know my country's highways and byways, its history and legends and its breathtaking scenery.

My job - my pleasure - is to make your stay in Scotland unforgettable.
